Who gets the city's money

City of Chicago contract vendors

The companies and organizations the city contracts with, ranked by the total amount awarded to them. Every name links to a page showing that vendor's contracts, the departments behind them, and the largest individual awards.

The city's contracts dataset covers purchase orders and contracts issued by City of Chicago departments — construction, professional services, goods, and blanket agreements — along with the awarding department, the procurement method, the contract term, and the amount awarded. It does not cover sister agencies with their own procurement, such as Chicago Public Schools or the CTA, except where they appear as a party to a city contract.

Two caveats worth carrying into every page here. Award amounts can be negative: the city files revisions and de-obligations as their own records, so a vendor total is the net of awards and adjustments rather than a tally of payments. And an award is a ceiling, not a receipt — the money actually spent against a contract can be less.

Vendors are grouped on the vendor name exactly as the city records it, so a company filed under more than one spelling will appear more than once. Totals are the net of awards and adjustments, not payments made.
